Shepherds have a word for a sheep that rolls onto its back and can’t get up: cast. A cast sheep isn’t wicked or rebellious. It’s just down. Left alone, it won’t survive, which is why a good shepherd counts the flock every morning and every night. This Sunday, October 18, our series on the “I Am” sayings of Jesus comes to “I am the good shepherd.” Plenty of people will walk with you in good weather. Jesus contrasts himself with the hired hand who runs when the wolf comes, and the good shepherd is the one who stays. If you’ve been down lately, come and hear the One who knows you by name. Join us at St. James, Stouffville. All are welcome.
