Sunday September 27, 2026 I a the bread of life.

We have all done it: standing at the fridge at eleven at night, door open, cold light on our face, staring at a full shelf — and nothing in there is what we want. We're not actually hungry, not for food.

We have all done it: standing at the fridge at eleven at night, door open, cold light on our face, staring at a full shelf — and nothing in there is what we want. We're not actually hungry, not for food. It's one of the truest pictures of being human: surrounded by fullness, still unsatisfied, because the hunger we feel isn't the hunger we're feeding. A crowd once chased Jesus around a lake looking for more free bread, and he told them the truth — they were working for food that spoils by morning. Then he said the words that begin a whole series: "I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry." This Sunday, September 27, we start a new series on the "I Am" sayings of Jesus, beginning with the one hunger that bread was never going to fill. Come as you are, hungry and all. There's a place set for you.
